LG’s new ultrawide gaming monitors have up to 144Hz refresh rates

LG announced a new line of gaming monitors this week at IFA in Berlin. These UltraGear 34-inch monitors have IPS displays with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 3440 x 1440 resolution. The new UltraGear monitors are pretty standard for top-of-line gaming displays, as they sport specs similar to Alienware and Acer offerings. But these screens do mark LG’s latest update in the gaming monitor market, support both Nvidia and AMD GPU display tech, and offer an even wider resolution than previous models.

There are two monitors being introduced in the new line. The 34GK950G and 34GK950F are pretty similar, except that the G model has Nvidia G-Sync and a slower refresh rate (120Hz when overclocked) than the F model with Radeon FreeSync 2 and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The G-Sync model also has LG’s Sphere Lighting system, meaning RBG fans might prefer it over the other.

Both monitors have borderless bezels and a 1,900R curvature with anti-glare. You can tilt and swivel the monitor to adjust it to the optimal viewing position. As for ports, they come with one DisplayPort 1.2, an HDMI 1.4 port, two USB 3.0 ports, a DC power input connector and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

There are no details on pricing or availability yet.

Firefox is testing features that let you customize colors and view two tabs in one

Mozilla Firefox is testing out two new experimental extensions that let users further customize their browser and view tabs together more easily. The first one is called Firefox Color and it lets you change the colors of the background, text, icons, and the toolbar. Whatever you change can be saved and you can also choose to share your color schemes with others. Firefox also has a selection of pre-made color themes that you can choose from if you don’t want to customize every single color yourself. The second feature that Firefox is testing is called Side View and it does basically what it sounds like: you can view two browser tabs at once in the same tab and window. Without the feature, you can already line up two windows side by... Continue reading… from The Verge - All Posts https://ift.tt/2LZWa7h

Uber and Lyft confirm that they want to expand to offer electric scooters

Uber wants a permit to operate e-scooters in San Francisco, the company confirmed to The Verge . Scooters would be added to the Uber fleet alongside ride-sharing cars and bikes supplied by the bike-sharing startup Jump, which Uber acquired in April. Lyft has also said that it’s applied for permits for electric scooters in San Francisco, but the company currently doesn’t have a scooter or bike operation. It’s reportedly in talks to buy bike-sharing company Motivate. The city announced new regulations for scooters and a permit process at the end of May. Under those rules, startups had to remove their scooters from the streets by June 4th and apply for permits by June 7th. Those that win permits will be allowed into a 12-month pilot...
